Meet The Board

SIOBHAN BOYD-NELSON, PRESIDENT

Siobhan Boyd-Nelson, (she/her/hers) has been Equality Ohio’s Development Director since 2018. She received her B.A. in Legal Communication from Howard University in 2002. She returned home to Columbus and earned her J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2005. Her involvement in Columbus’ LGBTQ community began shortly thereafter and has included leadership positions on the boards of LinkOUT, Scarlet & Gay (the OSU GLBT Alumni Society), and the Legacy Fund of the Columbus Foundation. Siobhan practiced law in the domestic, probate, and appellate fields before entering the nonprofit sector in 2012. Siobhan is also a member of the Create Columbus Commission and a board member of both Black, Out, & Proud and Move United Church.

LETHA PUGH, TREASURER

Letha Pugh, (she/her/hers), was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska and has lived in Columbus since 2001. She has spent the last 12 years as a community volunteer in a number of different roles in the community and owns a number of small businesses. She lives with her partner of 13 years, Wendy, and their 8 year old daughter, Avery, who is an awesome swimmer.

JYLLIAN SPIKES, Vice President & PROGRAMMING CHAIR

Jyllian Spikes (she/her/hers) is a Senior Account Manager for Capital One and has her BS in Organizational Communication from Ohio University. With over 10 years of client care experience, she recently expanded her plate to include more work in her community. After graduating in the top percentile at Regency Beauty Institute before she received her cosmetology license from the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology in 2011. In her spare time, she tends to the needs of her fiance’ and dog. She enjoys creative outlets to clear her mind. Jyllian believes that developing strong relationships is the foundation of everything she does, both professionally and personally.

WILLIAM D. STINCHCOMB, Secretary

William D. Stinchcomb, LPC, CDCA (he/him/his) is a Licensed Professional Counselor (OH) in Columbus, Ohio. He is currently a Behavioral Health Therapist at Equitas Health. Born and raised in Ohio's capitol city, William has spent his career working in the field of human services providing care to children, adolescents, families, and adults. William has been a licensed therapist since 2018; and in his current role, his work focuses on people within the LGBTQAI+ community and people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). When he is not working, you can find William spending time with his son and/or walking/cycling on a Greenway Trail or at one of the local Metro Parks.

Jamie Tolbert, Marketing chair

Jamie N. Tolbert (she/her/hers) is an accomplished entrepreneur, originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, and currently based in Grandview Heights. She has built a remarkable career, starting with her academic foundation—a B.A. in Communications from Northern Kentucky University, followed by an M.S. in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University. These educational achievements laid the groundwork for her expertise in marketing, sales, and branding.

With years of experience in these fields, Jamie has honed her skills in developing impactful strategies and executing campaigns that resonate with audiences. Her passion for helping brands grow and thrive led her to establish Trendustry Media Group, a marketing agency that specializes in innovative, results-driven solutions.

C. raphael davis-williams, j.d., Board Member

C. Raphael Davis-Williams (he/him/his) has worn many different hats across a variety of careers, but always with a singular mission and goal: improving the lives of marginalized folks, especially Black people and other people of color, by aggressively advocating for meaningful, lasting, systemic changes in America’s institutions and seats of power. In April 2019, Raphael embraced his latest role as Director of Equity and Inclusion for the American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio. Raphael joined the ACLU of Ohio after nearly a decade as a plaintiffs’ civil rights attorney, litigating cases in federal court on behalf of individuals discriminated against in housing and employment because of their race, sex, religion, disability, national origin, and sexual orientation. Raphael has served on the Board of Directors for several nonprofit organizations, including the ACLU of Ohio, prior to accepting his current staff position and the Kaleidoscope Youth Center.

love benton, Ph.D, Board Member

J. Love Benton (she/her/hers) has her Ph.D. Candidate within the Leadership and Change program at Antioch University. She is currently a professor and the Equity Manager for the City of Columbus. 

Her background is unique, in that it intersects with several disciplines that include: education; diversity, equity, and inclusion; curriculum development; teaching and learning; non profit sector; sexual assault and domestic violence; trauma informed care; and LGBTQ+ communities. 

charles, smith, member at large

Charles Smith (he/him/his) is an activist, artist, born and raised in Columbus. A founding officer of People Of All Colors Together from 1995 - 1999 which focused on diversity & inclusion in the LGBTQ community, with programming, training & development to support gay multiracial couples. Charles continued his involvement as supporter of the Columbus LGBTQ community, and that involvement lead him to become a member of the artist Co-Op Studio 16. Charles is also a founding steering committee member of Black Out and Proud, Charles has been a focused proponent in the community for the last two years advocating for QTPOC and supporting the larger LGBTQ community.
